Oliva Serie V
"One of the most complex cigars in our humidor." - Matt W.
Oliva is Nicaragua’s second largest grower of Cuban-seed tobacco and dates back to 1886 when Melanio Oliva cultivated his first tobacco crop in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba.
Oliva’s Serie V is a complex blend of Nicaraguan long filler tobaccos, blended with specially fermented Jalapa Valley ligero, and finished with Habano Sun Grown Wrapper from Ecuador. Ligero (pronounced “lee-HAIR-oh”) is a type of tobacco leaf found near the top of each tobacco plant and hand-selected for the crafting of heavy, full-bodied, cigars. Ligero is hand-rolled at the center of the filler bundle to create its slow-burning nature.
Matt W, our resident cigar aficionado at the Shadeland shop, describes the Serie V as a cigar with notes of cream, soft leather, sweet woodiness, coffee, and sweet chocolate. “The Serie V is one of the most complex cigars in our humidor. Enjoyed anytime of day, it’s best experienced after dinner as a dessert cigar with medium-bodied liquors, medium-to-full bodied beers, and nearly any coffee drink.”
Oliva Serie V has over forty 90+ ratings and the Serie V Lancero currently ranks 6th on Cigar Afiionado’s Top 25 list.
