Illusione Cigars was established in 2006 by Dion Giolito, a retail cigar shop owner in Reno, Nevada. Illusione is a small-batch brand, manufactured in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Illusione Epernay 10th Anniversary D’Aosta is currently ranked #7 on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 List.
The cigar names are a nod to conspiracies or codes. The mj12 refers to the Majestic 12, an alleged secret committee to investigate and recover alien aircraft.
Illusione mj12 is a 6 x 54 Toro size and made with Nicaraguan wrapper, binder, and filler. A maduro version is made with a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper. The mj12 was rated 91 points by Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Insider in 2009.
